The painting "the judgement of paris", painted by konstantin yegorovich makovsky on the plot of a famous ancient myth, depicts a dispute between three goddesses - hera, athena and aphrodite - about who is the most beautiful. Makovsky sent this work, as well as the paintings "the demon and tamara" and "the death of ivan the terrible", to the world exhibition in paris in 1889. He received a first-degree gold medal for them and was awarded the legion of honor. However, even before the opening of the exhibition, "the judgement of paris" was bought by the american charles schumann.
