Hermann of hesse, (* around 1450; † october 19, 1508) was archbishop of cologne from 1480 to 1508 as hermann iv ("the peaceful"), and from 1498 also as hermann i, prince-bishop of the prince-bishopric of paderborn. Panel painting by the cologne master of the life of the virgin mary, now in the rhineland state museum. The image detail shows the bishop in pontifical clothing, kneeling under the protection of cologne's patron saint, st. Peter. St. Peter's left hand with a book over his mitre can be seen top left. Date: bald nach 1500.
