Circle of john baptist de medina portrait of a judge, believed to be sir alexander belsches of tofts, half-length, wearing judicial robes oil on canvas 76. 9 x 64. 4 cm; 30 1/4 x 25 3/8 in. Alexander belsches of tofts, son of john belsches of tofts (1580-1631) was lord advocate, knighted by king charles i, and appointed lord of session on 2 july 1646, taking the title lord tofts. He was mp for berwick from 1644. Date: 17th century.
