Satire on rural courtship: a country scene with a sailor presenting a blue ribbon to a milkmaid; another young woman admires the ribbon; a rustic youth looks on, scratching his head and pointing to two cows which need to be milked; a dog drinks from the milk pail and another jumps up at the milkmaid; in the background are a haystack, a tree and a windmill.
