Antiquities of the russian country, 1846-1853. Volume 4. Illustrator — ru: solntsev, fyodor grigorievich. Portrait of tsar ivan alekseevich, son of tsar alexei mikhailovich, taken from a portrait kept in the moscow armoury, painted in oils in the 17th century. This prince, tsar from 1682, died on january 29, 1696, at the age of 30. According to writers of his time, he was "in very poor health, had poor eyesight and was nearsighted"1. His pale, sickly face in the portrait confirms this testimony. Ivan is depicted in armour, over which he wears an unbuttoned fur coat, fastened on the chest with a cuff made of precious stones. The royal crown lies on the table in front of him. Date: between 1846 and 1853.
