Adolf johan married the second time in february 1661 to his first spouse's cousin elsa elisabeth nilsdotter brahe (january 29, 1632 – february 24, 1689). The wedding was held at tidö castle. She was the daughter of count nils brahe the elder of visingsborg and baroness anna margareta bielke and she had previously been married to chancellor count erik axelsson oxenstierna (1624–1656).
