Title print (in a set of 11 prints, first published in 1649), depicting the palais d'orléans (luxembourg palace) in paris; architecture engraved by jean marot, the small figures and the banner with the orléans coat of arms, by stefano della bella, after a drawing by israël silvestre (according to faucheux 1856–1858, p. 155). Alexandre de vesme (alessandro baudi di vesme), who prepared a 1906 catalogue of della bella's engravings (reprinted by massar in 1971), finds the attribution by faucheux to silvestre difficult to accept (vesme 1906, p. 227). Date: 1649. Dimensions: height: 12.9 cm (5 in); width: 24.6 cm (9.6 in). Medium: etching print. Collection: Metropolitan Museum of Art. Israel Silvestre, Palais d'Orléans - Metropolitan Museum of Art
