" the hamoaze is the estuary that flows past the devonport naval dockyard. Hms impregnable was built in 1810. The most serious action she engaged in was the bombardment of algiers in 1816, in which she took between 200 and 300 shots to the hull and more to the masts, with significant losses among the crew. In 1862, one year after this photograph was taken, she was converted to a training ship here at devonport. Date: 1861.
