King frederick in a worried mood to his general: "well, zieten, how are things? where does your cheerful confidence come from in such gloomy times? has you perhaps found a new ally?" no, your majesty, but the old one up there is still alive!" the king (sighing): "ah! he doesn't perform miracles anymore. " zieten: "there is no need for miracles either; he still fights for us and does not let us sink. ". Date: circa 1890.
