The map is an imitation of a design engraved by daniël stoopendael for the plantation by city engineer and surveyor jacob bosch dated 1682 (see saa: 10001/77). The dating of this map is based on the year 1726 in which andries de leth took over the publishing house/shop of elizabeth versijl (the widow of nicolaes vissscher) and the year of his death 1731.
