The dauphin, louis xvii, carried by an angel to his parents in heaven. The dauphin died on 8 june 1795. Here he receives his first glimpse of his deceased family in heaven, above the city of paris. The small child on marie antoinette's lap is presumably the earlier dauphin who died in 1781, while princess elizabeth, guillotined on 10 may 1794, receives the martyr's crown [1].
