Epitaph for melchior fend - presentation of jesus in the temple, luke 2, 22-40; crown and mitre show the worldly and spiritual power of the high priest, in the background the ark of the covenant and the brazen serpent. The aged simeon on the left holds the 40-day-old jesus, in him the physician melchior fend is portrayed, who taught at the university of wittenberg and practiced as a doctor. Date: 1659.
