Generals and officers (1861-1866), plate xxyiii, uniform of the army of the united states, illustrated, from 1774 to 1889. Washington, d. C. : quartermaster general of the army of the united states, 1890. Note: h. A. Ogden created 47 illustrations of the american soldier from the revolution to 1888 and received $100 for each work. Although the figures in the illustration are not identified by name, it is obvious that the seated figure is general u. S. Grant. The man holding the paper is general george gordon meade and the man alongside him is general ambrose burnside. Date: 1890.
