Jan 1900, despatched on 22 june 1901 to bonnette & demathieu, verdun. Palais des forêts, chasse, pêche et cueillette for the trees of the forest, which nowadays also grow more unattended, a special love has been shown at the exhibition. The palace of the forests, on the left bank of the seine near the eiffel tower, is the only building at the exhibition, made entirely of wood, without iron. The very wide hall with its double galleries and heavy, unpolished beams makes a pretty impression; to make the presence of fishing known, wide nets have been stretched from the ceiling, in which the flags of all nations are mixed. Heavy logs, magnificent specimens from french forests, are displayed in front of and inside the palace as they were felled, stripped only of their branches. The forest dwellers, deer, roe deer, foxes, are to be seen stuffed a hundred times over; large numbers of models and plans of forest preservation are hung on the walls, forest railways are in operation, and so on. The main contents of the palace are hunting implements, large collections of rifles, ammunition, nets and fishing rods, etc. Nets and fishing rods etc. A large fur collection leads from the french exhibition to the nordic countries. Countries. Norway and sweden are represented by dioramas of their fjords and forests, austria and tyrol also give representations of their high forests, samples of woods and animals. Germany has left its forests completely out of the exhibition. Worthy of note the japanese exhibition of a large number of well preserved sea creatures of the extreme east. Belgium has an excellent exhibition of hunting rifles in a special pavilion close to the palais des palais des armees de terre et de mer for its arms factories. Factories. Of course there were also prize shootings took place in vincennes; shooters from all over the world took part. From all over the world, as well as the first champions of the great in the great international fencing tournament which was held which took place for 10 days in the salle des fetes. Date: 1900.
