Yabneh, the ancient jabneh. Called also jabneel, and by the greeks jamnia. It is a large village, four miles from the seashore, surrounded by orchards. Its mosque was once a christian church. Its port, once the rival of joppa, has now almost entirely disappeared. Date: between 1881 and 1884.
