To the right of the miniature are represented the wise men and their retinue. Having removed their crowns, the three kings are prostrated: one — melchior — kisses the feet of christ, the second — balthasar — kisses the ground, and the third — gaspard — carries his present. At the same time as the wise men are represented, the shepherds are also in adoration before the child jesus. They are present one next to the virgin, the others behind the nativity scene, their sheep grazing on the hills behind. The virgin is surrounded by women dressed in fashionable costumes from the early 15th century. The city in the back, supposed to represent bethlehem, perhaps takes the appearance of the city of bourges. Object Type: manuscript illumination. Genre: religious art. Date: between 1411 and 1416.
