You also thought of me on this day. Life here goes on as usual. I usually get up at 7 a. M. To get coffee and make a fire in the bunker. Then wood is sawn and chopped. By then it is already midday. In the afternoon the "dishes are washed" and by 3 p. M. It is dark again. We are not in the front line, so things are so "peaceful". But nothing is happening at the front either. There we just have to stand guard. That is all i can tell you about myself. This letter will probably come in time [for christmas]. Date: 13 December 1942.
