Draped woman at left with attributes of hypnos (winged head and poppy) hovers at left in front of a window that opens out on to blackness. Her arm is outstreched over a reclining man, recumbent on a low divan at right. He is half nude, propped on one elbow with his other arm behind his head. At right, an oil lamp burns atop a columnar pillar. Date: 1899. Dimensions: Overall: 40.6 x 31.8 cm (16 x 12 1/2 in.). Medium: graphite, gray wash, laid paper.
