A man in a hat with a forstera sedifolia on the brim holds a new zealand bellbird. A younger man is depicted drawing. According to the letters of therese huber[1], the painting was inherited by carl forster after the 1804 death of justina forster, the widow of johann reinhold forster, and then given to jrf's granddaughter iphigenie alberthal (1789-1864). In 1982, the painting was owned by peter rheinberger, vaduz, liechtenstein. [2]
