And statesman who distinguished himself as ambassador to the hague for the magnificence of his entertainment, and as viceroy of ireland for the enlightenment and tolerance of his policies. He married petronella von der schulenberg, countess of walsingham, illegitimate daughter of george i. Another copy of this painting is in the national portrait gallery, london (inv. No. Npg 158), and a pastel of the sitter by hoare is in the victoria and albert museum, london (inv. No. P. 11-1943). Date: 18th century.
