giovanni battista rubini was one of the first great interpreters of the romantic style of vincenzo bellini and gaetano donizetti. Started in pergamon, then continued in naples, his career was turned upside down by his move to paris. From 1825, he performed rossini's first operatic roles there, notably otello, then worked closely with bellini to become the greatest tenor of his time and achieve european success (italian theater in paris, majesty's theater in london, austria, italy, germany).
