The little bugler gets a pat on the back of Kong Frederik VII. View from The First Schleswig War., Rasmus Christiansen, between 1881 and 1940

This is a scene from the poem den lille hornblæser (the little bugler) by hans peter holst - written in 1849 - and describing the deeds of a young bugler in 1848. It is based on anecdotes, not on historical facts. Christiansen also made a slighly smaller version of this scene - with a less detailed background and sky - which was auctioned at bruun rasmussen in 2018. See "other versions". Object Type: painting. Date: between 1881 and 1940. Dimensions: height: 61 cm (24 in); width: 51 cm (20 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Unknown. Rasmus Christiansen - Den lille hornblæser får et skulderklap af Frederik VII - 61 x 51 cm
