the sitter inherited dullingham house near newmarket and wingfield manor estate on the island of st. Kitts, upon the death of his father in 1788. He married henrietta, daughter of john robinson of dunston hall, suffolk, and widow of antony, 11th viscount gormanston. They had one daughter, harriet, who married in 1824 william pigot and who continued to live at dullingham. Provenance: by descent in the sitter's family until, sale, cambridge, cheffins, 1 october 2020, lot 114, where acquired by the present owner. Date: 18th century.
