Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel gjøngehøvdingen by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1657-1658. Ib abelsøn and svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, holds a rest in the forest of sparresholm while they are transporting money for the danish king. Two gønger has come from behind however to warn them about a group of swedish horsemen and now two other gønger comes from the other side to warn about about another group. Svend poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679) was a real person but the story is fiction. Date: Original illustration from the 1890s, here reprint from 1909..
