Among the shipwrecked people in the middle of the picture is the bruggerin von gollberg. She is floating on her back and raising her hands to the steinbach sorrows mother who appears in the sky as her last hope. Her pilgrimage was actually supposed to go to maria einsiedeln, but a storm suddenly developed on lake constance and the ship with 57 people capsized.
