Watercolour portrait painting by frances c. Fairman (1836-1923), titled portrait of a welsh terrier. There is a pencil inscription on the back, saying, "to mr gounod from one of his very many english admirers. Fc fairman. June 5th 1877". It has been suggested here that gounod is charles gounod 1818-1893, the composer. Date: 5 June 1877.
