A 'gufar' loaded with water-melons - the cauldron-like 'gufar' of baghdad, probably the oldest vessel in the world, is a boat indigenous to the tigris image: a local man in a circular local boat approaches the side of a waterway. On the bank sits another local man; behind is a high wall pierced by a wide gateway, beyond which is a large tree and vegetation. Date: (First World War).
