The old picture gallery in the Schinkel Museum, Jan van Eyck, 1880/1881
The picture shows the skylight rooms on the north side of the altes museum in berlin from the east after the reconstruction from 1877 to 1880, and with the hanging that only existed until 1884. At the front of the room are the wings of the ghent altarpiece by hubert and jan van eyck, created around 1427 to 1432, which the prussian state had purchased in 1821 (in 1919 the panels passed to belgium under the treaty of versailles).
