Antonello da messina, madonna and child, st. John the evangelist and st. Benedict. Until 2030, three panels of a polyptych of three or perhaps five compartments by antonello da messina, dating back to the years shortly before his departure for venice, will be exhibited together in the uffizi gallery. Two of the compartments, the madonna and child and st. John the evangelist, were acquired by the uffizi in 1996, with the proceeds of a bequest. The compartment with st. Benedict is owned by the lombardy region, which purchased it in 1995 for the castello sforzesco.
