The scene is subdivided into two main motifs. The left area presents the carthusian way of life, arranging in the center the figure of saint bruno of colonia in a praying attitude, while other groups of carthusians stand under a shed made under the shelter of the mountain rocks. In the background you can see the gorge that gave access to the place chosen by saint bruno in chartreuse, guarded by a lay brother to prevent intruders from entering. On the far right of the composition a group of bricklayers is represented working, under the orders of a carthusian, building the premises of what will be the first carthusian. Object Type: painting.
