As commander-in-chief of the bernese troops, he protected geneva in 1692 and neuchâtel in 1708 from french military pressure attempts. In 1712 he distinguished himself in the second villmergen war as field colonel of the bernese troops. From 1691 he was a bernese grand councillor, 1698-1702 landvogt of lausanne, from 1708 a small councillor, 1714-15 master of the armoury and 1715-19 venner of pfistern. Object Type: painting.
