“the old suburb of vaise. In the background, on the right, the bell tower of the new church, built in 1845. ”
illustration by joannès drevet in emmanuel vingtrinier, le lyon de nos pères, 1901, p. 296 (municipal library of lyon). "the new church, built in 1845" is the saint-pierre de vaise church (see a view of the bell tower of saint-pierre de vaise over the roofs of the houses bordering the arloing quay, using a street camera on google maps). This church stands just behind the first houses of the current arloing quay, which extends to the left (downstream). We note that at the beginning of the 20th century there was no quay strictly speaking: the houses had their feet in the water.
