Goettingen Prinzenstraße um 1820, Friedrich Besemann, circa 1820

View from the avenue into prinzenstrasse. Looking east from today's goetheallee, in front is the leine canal, to the left behind it is the michaelishaus, referred to here as the expraefecture because it served as the seat of the prefecture of the leine department in the kingdom of westphalia until 1813. On prinzenstrasse with a high entrance is the prinzenhaus, to the right of it between the passages to the university courtyard is the konzilienhaus, on whose site the third extension of the university library was built in 1878–82. Watercolour pen drawing. Date: circa 1820.
