Portrait of napoléon bonaparte in the coronation robe, 1812, executed as tapestry. Gift from napoléon bonaparte for friedrich i. (württemberg, könig). Picture is taken in the residenzschloss ludwigsburg. There were four german kingdoms of grace of napoléon i, so four of the original 9 executed were given to these kingdoms: bayern, sachsen, westphalen und this for württemberg. The original classicism golden frame shows the gold laurel leaves, as of the crown in the painting, rimming the oval tapestry. Date: 1812.
