Portrait of the author of "nieuwe schouburg", jan van gool's 1750 sequel to arnold houbraken's "schouwburg"(1718). This plate shows a landscape in his hand, which was his specialty as a painter. He was not only a writer, but a respected painter. The poem on the print says that the father of the engraver, arnold houbraken, was a good friend of van gool. Date: 1749.
