In a style consistent with that of the barbizon painters, charles jacque depicts a shepherdess guarding her flock. The animals, the central subject of this oil on wood, drink in a pond next to two large trees. The foreground is occupied by this pond and the background includes a green rural landscape as well as a cloudy sky. Date: circa 1855. Dimensions: 37,6 x 46,3 (sans cadre). Medium: oil on wood.
