76. 4 x 63. 5 cm.;30⅛ x 25 in. William lushington, of monks' hall, essex, married paulina, only child of thomas french esq. , and had three daughters. He was a younger brother of sir stephen lushington, 1st bt. , who was chairman of the east india company in 1790. William lushington himself arrived in bengal on 26 august 1764 and was supravisor of hooghly from 1770 to 1773, living at 'houghly hall' on the banks of the river; he later resigned from the east india company in 1773, and became an alderman and mp for the city of london. Date: 18th century.
