A lithograph of the painting head of christ or vera icon ("true image") by jan van eyck or follower, ca. 1440. The print (28. 4 × 40. 6 cm) was published by n. Strixner in stuttgart for the galerie des frères boisserée in heidelberg, germany, where the painting was exhibited at the time. Previously it had been in the collegial church of st servatius in maastricht, netherlands. In 1827 the boisserée collection was sold to king ludwig i of bavaria. The painting is now in the collection of the altes museum in munich. This print was acquired by the british museum in london in 1860.
