The photograph shows sculptures in the studio of the artist bolesław syrewicz (1835–1899), located in the royal castle in warsaw, which he took over after władysław oleszczyński (1808–1866) in 1869. The center of the frame is occupied by a tombstone - a child's figure of a winged angel in a flowing robe with a raised right hand, standing under a cross. The composition was placed on an angular pedestal with a partially visible plaque with the text: "to our most loved daughter / helen hempel / she was us' console, sweet, / […]//". A tombstone from 1876 for the church in rościszew near płock, made of white marble, was documented against the background of a dark, shiny curtain. In the background, on the right, there is a white stone carving depicting a seated angel as a winged youth in a long, draped robe. The sculpture was placed on a wooden table. In the background there is a gas lamp hanging from the ceiling - an example of the way the studio was lit at that time. The print from 1876, made on albumen paper, was pasted on a cardboard backing without any company markings indicating its author. It is kept in the collections of the jan matejko house.
