Upper left, venus or sea nymph, embraced by sea god, accompanied by nymph and two winged putti, one on dolphin. Upper right, airborne angel playing violin. Lower left, kneeling satyr (or pan?) struggling with cupid, pan pipes on ground at lower left. Lower right, airborne cupid whipping satyr tied to tree. Date: 1821–22. Dimensions: 30.7 x 23.1 cm (12 1/16 x 9 1/8 in.). Medium: black chalk, brush and brown wash, paper, pen and brown ink. Collection: Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
