this engraving seems a free interpretation of the drawing by victor hugo formerly belonging to paul de saint-victor (massin, vol. Xviii, n° 625, then françoise tournié collection). The original wash reproduced by massin only represents the central part with the silhouette of the town and the top of the bridge arch. The engraver also rendered more precisely and drew the more allusive wash of victor hugo. Institution: maison de victor hugo - hauteville house
