The experts at bruun-rasmussen were somewhat vague about the identity of the two zytphen-adelers. The wife was described as sofie, born steensen-leth, but that did not make things easier. The only steensen-leth on record to marry into the zytphen-adeler family was petra, born in 1873, and the only sofie on record was sophie louise de falsen zytphen-adeler, baroness and a daughter of the family, born 1872. So if the 1876 date holds, both are out of contention. There are a number of male zytphen-adelers who had an age fitting for the painting, so any attempt of identification would be pure guesswork.
