Montagu edmund parker (1737-1831) of whiteway house, chudleigh, devon, sheriff of devon in 1789, younger brother of john parker, 1st baron boringdon (1735-1788) of saltram house, plympton, devon, whose son was john parker, 1st earl of morley (1772-1840). 1768 portrait by sir joshua reynolds (1723-1792), who was born in plympton and painted many pictures for his friends the parker family of saltram. Collection of national trust, nt 872086, displayed at saltram house. Provenance: accepted by hm treasury in part payment of death-duties from the executors of edmund robert parker, 4th earl of morley (1877–1951) and transferred to the national trust in 1957.
