Pirseia - semaphore in ancient Greece, 31 December 1868

Shows how pirseia system to transmit messages seemed to work semáforo (comunicación) …ca 150 a. C. , in ancient greece there was a system of traffic lights (pirseia) that allowed all kinds of messages to be sent, using the polybius table to represent the messages to be transmitted. Two panels with five torches each panel were used in each transmission tower. The system is widely described by polybius in volume ii, book tenth of his stories, as well as by luis figuier in les merveilles de la science ou description populaire des inventions moderne.
