iconographic description:
genre scene. Exterior scene: paris, "jardin des tuileries", in the background the carrousel. Characters: on the left, a little boy, who is trying to capture a butterfly with a net, and a little girl holding a basket, are accompanied by a nurse busy breastfeeding an infant. On the right, three men stand facing three others seated on a stone bench. They listen to the newspaper being read. A greyhound sits near the bench. Behind these two groups, a man buys a nanterre cake from a merchant. Further on, a man is reading a newspaper, a couple is seated under a parasol and people are strolling in the garden.
