Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 envelope: front back page 2 text [continues to work for a viennese painter] duties of gratitude to him and must take his girl for the holidays. The little church would never get artistically valuable pictures because we, or rather the community, could never pay for them! if we take the girl, we are doing it for the poor little church in my home town! i would have preferred hansi incomparably more than the girl because he is well behaved and hardworking in every respect. So i am personally very, very sorry about the rejection. I have also already thought whether there is no way to help the boy to find a profession, but starting up always fails because of the empty coffers. But i will pray for hansi. If the holiday organization does agree to pay in the event of illness or to act as a guarantor, you would have to send a written confirmation from them; because, as i know, mrs waldinger would not agree to your declaration that she would pay any medical expenses etc. For the boy herself! - now just console the boy! god help you to get it sorted quickly. With apologies for not being able to help and best wishes, i am yours, marie lagg. Date: 14 May 1937.
