For sixty years, the regalia have been on display in the silver chamber and after thursday's ceremony they were returned to their storage place. Uppsala, wednesday (svd's seconded employee). It was a rare and solemn spectacle when gustav vasa's 386-year-old remains were previewed to a limited number of invitees on wednesday evening. The king has been placed on a low, black-clad catafalque in the marian choir in front of wilhelm boy's grave monument. At the catafalque's four corners stand silver candelabra, which spread a gentle glow over the king's nut-brown skull and dark violet robes. The head rests on a velvet pillow and the arms are crossed. Date: 27 February 1946.
