Giovanni battista lusieri (ca. 1755-1821) - vesuvius seen from the granatello fort in portici. "the painting takes up the framing of lusieri's view (1784), but moved from the quarries of the real petriera to the forte del granatello, excluding the royal villa of portici from the view. In the painting the casino del renna covers that of the cecere. " on the left, the villa of the russian ambassador at the bourbon court, with a reduced view of the magnificent gardens of the caravita villa (now maltese). On the terrace of the fort you can read the writings of the bourbon soldiers, with graffiti celebrating pope pius vii, a number 4 with the writing knights, the name antonio and a sun. ". Date: circa 1784.
