rené didier in the role of phébus for the performance of "notre-dame de paris" published in 1831 and performed at the théâtre des nations, june 7, 1879. The actor stands, draped in a coat, wearing a hat, left hand on the pommel of his sword and right hand smoothing his mustache. Phébus is captain of the guard, he is seduced by esméralda but arouses the jealousy of claude frollo, archdeacon of notre-dame de paris, who will stab him and leave him for dead.
