1887 drawing of the françois vase, a large volute krater decorated in the attic black-figure style, standing 66cm in height. Dated circa 570 bce, it was found in 1766 in an etruscan tomb in the necropolis of fonte rotella near chiusi and named after its discoverer alessandro françois. The vase depicts the procession of ancient greek gods and goddesses attending the wedding of peleus and thetis. The original version of this image was uploaded by user:fæ from flickr's the commons.
